This is a thread dedicated to one of the greatest sufi saints linked to the deoband school of thought. His life has a lot of lessons for us. I request all to read 3 times surah ikhlas for his blessed soul.
Ml Muhammad Abdullah Behlawi,shujaAbadi was born in s village called "Behli" on 1st of Ramazan 1313 AH. His father was Ml Muhammad Muslim ra. Hazrat Behlawai ra writes in his book "Faiz e Roohani,Rahmate Samdani"
"My Father told me that all children that were born in his household used to die in a few months or upto one year. One day by chance a 'Buzarg' (saintly person) met me and thus I presented my problem to him. He advised to keep reciting"Rabbe hab li min ladunka zurrayyatan tayyeba,innka samee ud dua" and also mentioned that inshaAllah the same day(next year),Allah swt will grant you a son,who will have a long life,and would be pious. As it happened one year later on Tuesday,the same day the dua was requested,you ( i.e. Hazrat Behlawi ra) was born."
Hazrat's Father made a 'Mannat' (vow),that if Allah swt grants him a son he will make him an 'Alime Din' (scholar of religion). He used to pray to Allah to keep him alive till he sees his son conducting Wa'az (speeches) on Minber e Rasool (the pulpit). So when Hazrat Behlawi returned from deoband and his father saw him conducting wa'az (speeches) and teaching students,with in two years he passed away (Rahema hullah).
When Hazrat was 4years,4 months and 4 days old his studies were started. After receiving initial education in local madaris Hazrat departed for deoband for further studies. His teachers in deoband included Ml Mahmood ul hassan ra for a brief period,Ml anwar Shah Kashmiri ra,Ml Shabbir Ahmad Usmani ra and Hazrat Ml Asghar Hussain sb ra. After completing his studies in deoband,Hazrat left for a village near "Lodhran",where the Qutub of his time,Moulana Muhammad Amir Damani ra was not only teaching Ilm e Zahir (knowledge of the outer sciences of shariah) but was spreading Fuoozat (blessings) of Ilme Batin ( knowledge of the inner sciences of shariah).That is where Hazrat not only completed the remaining few books that he had left....but later started his spiritual journey at the hand of Hazrat Damani ra too. After takmeel (completion )of various books for learning Quran further Hazrat went to the dars (lessons) of Hazrat Moulana Hussain Ali Wan Bhichra ra,and later Ml Ahmad Ali Lahori ra.
Later Hazrat started a Madrasa in Behli,where Darse Nizami was taught.(At a much later stage the main Madrasa was shifted to Shuja Abad,while the Madrsa in Behli also continued working under his son.
