I will use this thread to inshAllah refute some of the nonsense claims that evolution has directly helped us in advances in medicine. This thread is a split off from the thread evolution event. User Scotty feels that evolution has helped humanity alot in devising new medicines. Since scotty has posted alot of links I will take my time whenever I am free to dissect some of the claims and refute these.
To start off scotty should read more. He should read how antibiotics were discovered. This is basic biology history.

Fleming recounted that the date of his discovery of penicillin was on the morning of Friday, September 28, 1928.[21] It was a fortuitous accident: in his laboratory in the basement of St. Mary's Hospital in London (now part of Imperial College), Fleming noticed a Petri dish containing Staphylococcus plate culture he mistakenly left open, was contaminated by blue-green mould, which formed a visible growth. There was a halo of inhibited bacterial growth around the mould. Fleming concluded the mould released a substance that repressed the growth and lysing the bacteria. He grew a pure culture and discovered it was a Penicillium mould, now known to be Penicillium notatum.]
How exactly was the discovery of antibiotics caused by knowledge of darwinian evolution and its application? It is clear that the antibiotic was discovered in quite a accidental manner. Allah created the bacteria causing bugs and He gave us the antibiotics to cure it to the extent He wills. Similarly that the bacteria He has created, He has masterminded it such that it has within it potential to change in limited ways to avoid the very treatment He himself has given humans. Bacterial resistance actually almost always rely on a few mutations which can happen predictably and never to the fantastic imaginary extent which presumes a species can fully change into another even through zillions of years. Antibiotic action is quite specific and slight changes to bacterial structure can render it ineffective. Never have we seen for e.g. E.coli or proteus or Staphylococcus changing into a new bacteria or even more fantastic into a new species outside bacteria. They all remain the same bacteria even if subjected to millions of mutations or environmental milieu (even a million antibiotics won't change it into another species) which darwinism eventually wants to imply. They want to extend this simple fact of microbiology that antibiotics work in quite specific ways and that bacteria are already created predisposed to be able to form into resistant mutants based on the very narrow therapeutic target of antibiotics into a claim that bacteria can turn into a Scotty typing over this keyboard if given a couple or more of billion years and arguing with mubakr another person who simply also has bacterial ancestry. He refuses to believe that Allah created scotty and his ancestor Adam separately and bacteria separately.
I have just prepared this roughly. But I will research inshAllah with Allah's help the issue at hand and tackle each and every claim posted by scotty claiming that evolution has helped the medical field in tremendous manners and that we should feel guilty everytime we refute evolution because we are hindering medical progress. Those claims are all biased and subjective. Their is no objective basis behind them.
