Im not too sure about Shafi'i fiqh, but I think its recommended (at the least) to pause after the Fatiha to give the muqtadi's some time to recite it.
Now, in the Hanafi madhab, staying silent for more than 3 subhanallahs requires you to make a sajdah sahw at the end. If a Hanafi is praying behind a Shafi'i imam, and the Shafi'i imam stays silent after the Fatiha (which is usually for more than 3 subhanallahs), will this affect the salah of the Hanafi? Because as far as I know, in the Hanafi madhab, a defect in the Imams salah will also cause a defect in the Muqtadi's salah.
Unless of course the shafi'i imam recites something silently instead of just standing there, but I dont know if this is allowed in the Shafi'i madhab.
I'd appreciate an answer for this.
