I'm from Malaysia and there is now a huge debate in Malaysia about the use of Allah by Christians in the bible. I know that the word Allah has been used by Arab Jews and Christians in their bible. In fact even in Indonesia many Christians call their god Allah and use it in the Indonesian translation of the bible. We also know that if you were to tell western Christians that Allah is the name of god then they'll say you must be crazy. If you read Wikipedia it says that Allah comes from the root word 'al' meaning the and 'I lah' meaning "the god". In Hebrew, its Elohim or in Aramaic alaha.
My question is simple, is Allah a specific name of god or is it a word mean the god. Bear in mind that the original scripture of the Jews, the Torah is written in ancient Hebrew and uses the term Elohim mean the god and the original bible was in Aramaic which most likely uses alaha.
