:salam:
hope everyone on the forum is well inshaAllah.
I noticed a pattern with the Islamic events i have attended.
Our ISOC(university islamic society) is run by salafis, in most events there is too much mixing between the brothers and sisters. The brothers and sisters in charge work closely together etc.
This seems like the case also outside of university. I went to a salafi masjid for a talk on islamic empire history. The sisters were sat on the left and the brothers on the right. Both enter through the same entrance.
The talk finished after an hour. So they could of let the sisters leave first and then the brothers.
However then there was food arrangements. First the sisters went to get their plates and get their food, then the brothers. There was both men and women serving. Then everything fell apart people sat where they liked, women and men everywhere, non mehrams working together closely where they were serving, people just wondering around chatting etc.
I have never seen this happen at a Deobandi or Barelwi event, sisters are always in a different place.
Is it fair to say that some salafis take free mixing lightly ? Am i just making a big deal about nothing ?
what are your experiences and views ?
