I'm from the USA, and want to study abroad in Jordan insha'Allah. It is the only Middle Eastern country that our school still has a program with (we used to have Egypt, but that's understandably withheld). My dad is saying it's too "unsafe" and "close to a conflict zone".
Does anyone know anyone who lives/works/studies there (or has in the past) who'd be willing to answer a few short questions for me? he is mostly worried about me being an American, female, and in a dangerous place.
I'm trying to build a stack of 'testimonies' of sorts to try and help me convince him that it's okay. If you could pass this on, it would be amazing. It would be helpful to have a name attached to the testimony when I show it to my dad, but if you aren't comfortable with that it's okay (I'll make one up!)
If I am allowed to go to Jordan, I would probably be able to be accepted into a home-stay program, where I could live with a Muslim family. This would help me to learn more quickly, insha'Allah, because I'm still a relatively new revert. :) Plus, I'll be able to study Arabic!
