I'm usually not a fan of pointing people to the website I have linked to above because of some of the very questionable views of many of the scholars whose articles appear on that site or which are referenced on that site, but this article seems to provide a sound analysis of the issue and will probably benefit many people who have doubts about this issue in Islam.
